Over the last four years, Ed Larsen has been on the program management staff of the Healthcare Information Technology Standards Panel.  With HITSP’s wind down and more time, we will try to provide fresh information and analysis of trends in the health IT industry.

In the meantime, HIMSS members (log on required) can read our current thinking in the bi-monthly Standards Insight.  SI provides strategic analysis of the health IT industry from the view point of interoperability.  Its most recent focus has been on the impact of the HITECH.  Recent issues:

January 2010: 2010 – The Year of Meaningful Use

·        ONC and CMS delivered their rules for eligible providers to receive incentive payments for meaningful use of certified EHR technology.

November 2009: Changes in Latitude Changes in Attitude

·        With input complete for ARRA rulemaking, ONC has the opportunity to pause and begin to address longer range strategic planning.
